Ask 420: If dispensaries are illegal, why are there so many?

A question we always get asked about, is dispensaries—how can something be so prevalent that is supposedly illegal? Our answer is simple: we don’t know. Marijuana dispensaries are 100 per cent illegal, which is why they are all being shut down across the country.

Until marijuana legalization comes into play in 2017, there is no law or bylaw that allows a business to carry and sell marijuana. The only way to legally obtain medical marijuana in Canada, is to have a prescription from a doctor. Once you have a prescription, you can either go through one of the 34 Licensed Producers approved by Health Canada, or you can obtain permission from both your doctor and Health Canada to grow your own cannabis.

You should mind your own business about individuals growing their own medical marijuana. What’s the prob, you afraid of losing business? If people find they don’t have the knowledge or skill or room to grow their own they will use th dispensaries. It’s been a long enough time span to get where we are today, we don’t need nay sayers who are supposed to be on our side making waves.
